Towcester Church of England Primary School

We will send the children out, as Noah did the dove (Genesis 8:8-12), having nurtured and prepared them for life. Knowing that they are valued and can fly and can take the values of the school out into the world.

Everdon 2019

Everdon Trip

Children from Years 1 and 2 had a wonderful, if rather wet, time in March!

Yes, it rained on us the whole of the first day, but as the saying goes: ‘it’s never the wrong weather, it’s only the wrong clothes’. So the children wrapped up in waterproofs and wellington boots and braved the storms to explore, make full size shelters, track animal prints and have packed lunches, sheltering under the trees.

Once we had dried off, we toured the village and found lots of signs of the many businesses that used to be in Everdon.  We then returned to the centre for a huge dinner, playtime and souvenir shop before settling for bed with a story.

Children slept very well and were full of excitement when they woke up (rather too early for Ms King’s liking!).  We ate an enormous breakfast, then packed up our things, made our beds and stacked our suitcases before heading back to the forest for bug hunting, games and adventures. This time in warmer, drier weather!

Wow! What an experience for our 5, 6 and 7 year olds!  Children had a wonderful time - the weather was good and so was the food.  Children not only managed to sleep away from home and to spend their money, but also managed to make their own beds and clear the tables after food!

Lots of fun was had by all, and we didn't lose anyone in the bracken outside of our game of hide and seek!

We found lots of wildlife, both in the Forest and in the stream, including shiny blue beetles, centipedes, dragonflies, caddis-fly larvae, bull-head fish, frogs and water beetles.  We didn't lose any wellies, although three of us did manage to get wet feet!
