Songs we Sing
We love singing in our school. We sing a wide range of songs and we enjoy it more when we have an audience or our parents join in! We sing a variety of songs and hymns which we sing during collective worship, Church services and for celebrations and events.
We are often asked why we don't make a CD of our singing? (Maybe one day...) But we would much prefer you to hear us live and welcome visitors and families to our Friday assemblies.
We encourage our children to sing - everyone has their voice as their own musical instrument. Whilst we encourage children to join the Church choir and have singing lessons to develop their singing skills, we believe everyone can sing and are therefore everyone is part of our 'School Choir'. Classes/Year groups are allocated events and places to share their singing at.
Parents have asked if they can practise singing at home with their children and so we have printed some of our song words below.
We have adopted this song from our participation in Young Voices in 2015
Power in Me
1
When the race is nearly done, And I feel I can’t go on,
I know I can do something about it.
My heart will start to race,
My body find the motion,
And I will feel empowered from within.
Chorus
I’ve got the power in me
You’ve got the power in you.
I’ve got the power, p p power,
Got the power in me.
Nobody’s gonna hold me back,
Nobody’s gonna silence my words,
Nobody’s gonna close my mind,
I’ve got the power in me!
2
When somebody’s needing help,
And the world just walks on by,
I know I can do something about it.
I’ll stand up for their rights,
My voice will find the words,
And I will feel empowered from within.
Chorus
3
When my mind is closing down,
And I’m lacking inspiration,
I know I can do something about it.
No one can stop me learning,
Create my dreams and future,
And I will feel empowered from within.
Chorus
Bridge
We got the power,
You got the power,
I got the power the power in me!
We got the power Got the power!
You got the power Got the power!
I got the power, the power in me Got the power in me!
Chorus
This song is a firm favourite and says a lot about our school and it's ethos
We Are One
There are people in our lives,
Some are friends and some are strangers.
Though we see through different eyes,
And we come from many places.
Years 1, 2 and 3
We are one, we are strong,
As we sing our songs together.
We are one, we belong,
As we share our lives together
BOYS - There are places in our lives,
There are things we’ve done together.
GIRLS - And the memories of these times
Will be in our hearts forever.
Years 4, 5 and 6
Together we are strong,
We sing our songs together.
Each one of us belongs,
We share our lives together.
There are seasons in our lives,
And they bring us many changes.
Through the low times and the highs,
As we turn our separate pages.
This is the song we traditionally sing at Remembrance
'We Will Remember'
Turn your thoughts on this occasion
To those who fought and died in the war.
Years have passed and time has forgotten,
But we will remember the soldiers once more.
All things bright and beautiful
All things bright and beautiful, All creatures great and small, All things wise and wonderful: The Lord God made them all.
- Each little flower that opens, Each little bird that sings, He made their glowing colours, He made their tiny wings.
- The purple-headed mountains, The river running by, The sunset and the morning That brightens up the sky.
- The cold wind in the winter, The pleasant summer sun, The ripe fruits in the garden, He made them every one.
- He gave us eyes to see them, And lips that we might tell How great is God Almighty, Who has made all things well.
Hooray of Harvest
Hooray for Harvest!
Jump for joy!
Hooray for Harvest,
Each girl and boy!
Hooray for Harvest!
Twist and shout!
Come and let us tell you
What it’s all about!
Hooray for Harvest!
Jump for joy!
Hooray for Harvest,
Each girl and boy!
Hooray for Harvest!
Lend a hand!
We’re digging and we’re weeding,
To prepare the land!
Hooray for Harvest!
Jump for joy!
Hooray for Harvest,
Each girl and boy!
Hooray for Harvest!
Turn around!
We take a seed and plant it,
Deep within the ground!
Hooray for Harvest!
Jump for joy!
Hooray for Harvest,
Each girl and boy!
Hooray for Harvest!
Touch your toes!
It’s all about the farmer
And the food he grows.
Food Chain Blues
1
The Farmer sows the seed
In the ground.
The farmer sows the seed
In the ground.
Food chain blues,
Food chain blues,
That’s what keeps the world
A-turning round.
You grow the food and eat it.
* No one can beat it!
It’s the food chain blues I’m talkin’ about!
Ooooh yeah!
2
Well if you think it’s dull,
You’d be right,
Sitting in the dirt
Day and night.
Food chain blues,
Food chain blues,
And when I fin’lly make it
To the light.
They cut me down and eat me,
The system really beats me!
It’s the food chain blues I’m talkin’ about!
Yeah…..
Follow Me
Chorus
Follow me, follow me, leave your home and family,
Leave your fishing nets and boats upon the shore.
Leave the seeds that you have sown,
Leave the crops that you have grown,
Leave the people you have known and follow me.
The foxes have their holes
And the swallows have their nests,
but the Son of Man
has no place to lay down.
I do not offer comfort,
I do not offer wealth,
but in me will true happiness be found.
Chorus
If you would follow me,
you must leave old ways behind.
You must take my cross
and follow on my path.
You may be far from loved ones,
you may be far from home,
but my Father will welcome you at last.
Chorus
Although I go away
you will never be alone,
for the Spirit will be there
to comfort you.
Though all of you may scatter,
Each follow their own path,
still the Spirit of love will lead you home.
Chorus
