Anti Bullying

At Towcester C of E Primary School, we work together to provide our pupils with a safe, secure and happy environment in which to learn. We expect high standards of behaviour and encourage our pupils to fulfil our school vision, developing into responsible and valued members of the community.

We will send the children out, as Noah did the dove having nurtured and prepared them for life. Knowing that they are valued they can fly and take the values of the school out into the world.

If we live by the spirit, let us also walk in the spirit.

What is Bullying?

Bullying is:

  • deliberately hurtful behaviour,
  • repeated (often over a period of time),
  • difficult for those being bullied to defend themselves against.

In school, we teach our pupils about bullying using ‘STOP’. Pupils understand that bullying means hurtful behaviour that happens:

Purpose

Bullying usually takes one of four forms

Physical e.g. hitting, fighting, taking belongings

Verbal e.g. name-calling, insulting remarks, racist comments

Indirect e.g. excluding someone from social groups

Cyber-bullying e.g. texting, use of websites etc.

This type of behaviour is contrary to the ethos of our school. In partnership with parents, we aim to raise awareness and prevent such behaviour.

We also use ‘STOP’ to teach our children how they can prevent bullying.
