At Towcester C of E school we give the children opportunities to write extended pieces of writing in all our subjects not just in English lessons. This is also so in RE and through out the year the children have been given opportunities to write.
During Holy Week, a writing competition was organised for Years 4, 5 and 6. They were invited to use their experience at the 'Easter Exhibition' at St Lawrence Church to consider the feelings and values of Jesus and all those involved at the time of the Easter story. Our winners won a remote controlled car donated to the school by one of the Church parishioners. Our runners up received a chocolate bar to acknowledge their great pieces of writing too. Their work is available to be read by clicking on each of their names below and also in the school entrance foyer. Well done everyone and thank you for taking part.
Alongside our RE Activity Week, we ran a Bible Story Writing competition. All the classes had a go at writing a Bible Story in their own way and chosen genre. We had poems, raps, stories and storyboards. A winner was chosen from each class and we were delighted to see so many successful boy writers! Each winner won a large chocolate bar and will have their story sent off to a national competition run by the Bible Society. We will also be displaying stories in school and in Church.
Each classes winning entry has been entered into the Bible Society 'Pass it On' Story Writing Competition.
Our winning entries were displayed in school and also in St Lawrence Church in Towcester.
