Our School Day
Our gates open at 8.30am and children are supervised by parents until the school doors open at 8.45am. The Head Teacher is available on most days on the playground before and after school.
All children begin the day with a short activity to develop a skill in class eg, reading, mental maths or handwriting.
At 8.55am, our final bell goes and children should be in class ready for register.
Our first lesson is phonics or spelling, then our Collective Worship takes place.
Collective worship takes place in our Key Stage 2 hall. Different staff members, visitors or groups of children take our assemblies and we always have a song/hymn and a prayer together. We read prayers from our prayer book written by the children each year during 'Kindness week'. On Fridays at 9am we have our 'Celebration Assembly' when parents are welcome to join us and celebrate the achievements from the week.
After collective worship, at 9.40am, we have an English or maths lesson followed by a 15 minute break - 10.40 - 10.55.
After break we have our final lesson of the morning - English or Maths.
Key Stage 1 start their lunch at 12.00pm and Key Stage 2 start at 12.10am. Children go to the Key Stage 1 hall for their hot or packed lunch then go to play.
Younger pupils return to class at 1.15pm and the older ones return at 1.20pm.
The afternoon will consist of two lessons in most classes. Year 2 pupils have a mid-afternoon break outside. Year 1 and Foundation Stage don't interrupt their learning due to the nature of their setting.
Our school day finishes at 3.25pm for FS and Key Stage 1 pupils and 3.30pm for Key Stage 2.
We have many outside agencies/companies that provide extra-curricular clubs for our children before and after school. These consist of dance, sports, science, maths and film depending on the time of year.
Kidsstop provide before and after school provision in our Key Stage 1 hall.
