Physical Education and Sport at Towcester C.E. Primary School
At Towcester CE Primary School, we recognise how vital the contribution of Physical Education is to the health and well-being of our children. We understand the importance of having an innovative and varied PE curriculum with extra- curricular opportunities for all children. The staff at Towcester Primary aim to raise pupils’ achievement and promote spiritual, moral, social and cultural development through their teaching of high quality PE through extra-curricular clubs.
We believe that it is imperative that a young person’s appetite for a healthy lifestyle is enhanced as soon as possible, and the best way to influence this is by providing them with a high quality physical education experience during their time at our school.
Our main objective at Towcester Primary is to increase participation levels in physical activity, leading to a healthier lifestyle for all of our children!
“Let us take a generation inspired from the spectacular moments of the London 2012 games, and make it an ‘active generation’. Let’s offer all young people the highest quality physical education while they are at school and get them moving…for life. Together, we can achieve this.”
Baroness Sue Campbell CBE (Youth Sport Trust).
"Every primary school child should get at least 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity a day. At least 30 minutes should be delivered in school every day through active break times, PE, extra-curricular clubs, active lessons, or other sport and physical activity events."
